Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/ For our Medtech sector, we are currently recruiting a Medical Advisor (M/F) - Orthopaedics & Knee Surgery on a permanent contract. This role is based in our Issy-les-Moulineaux office and includes 30% travels. Overall purpose: DePuy Synthes (DPS) Field Medical Advisor (MedAdv) is DPS' scientific expert in France and contributes to the development and implementation of French medical strategy in alignment with BU priorities. Through evidence-based discussions and scientific peer-to-peer interactions with HCPs, HCOs, academic societies and patient associations, MedAdv is to be considered the trusted medical counterpart and partner of external and internal stakeholders regarding the medical value of DPS solutions for patients, HCPs and communities. Through activities in line with the Medical Affairs Plan, the Medical Advisor is jointly responsible for the realization of short-term and long-term company goals. Essential duties and responsibilities: External interactions * Serve as J&J local primary resource for medical and scientific information to HCPs, HCOs and other external stakeholders regarding DPS therapeutic areas. * Establish and nurture optimal peer-to-peer medical and scientific relationships with local/national HCPs and KOLs. Meet with HCPs on a regular basis, assess their medical and scientific needs. * Identify and develop strategic partnerships with scientific stakeholders (HCPs, KOLs, HCOs, academic societies, faculties) and other external stakeholders (patient/ caregiver associations, local/national authorities, external companies, etc.), based on cutting-edge scientific data and medical information. Conceive and lead advisory boards and expert meetings when needed. * Direct the identification and development of current and future KOLs across DPS therapeutic areas as needed. * Provide strong medical support, via evidence-based exchanges and peer-to-peer advocacy, for optimal launch and development of DPS new products and solutions (e.g. robotic platform, patient-aligned surgery, digital health, PROMs follow-up, etc.). * Support J&J-sponsored evidence generation projects: provide local insights to improve selection of KOLs and sites for clinical trials, facilitate study recruitment and management, support local database studies and registries. * Support external evidence generation projects in collaboration with regional/global medical and clinical affairs. Support HCPs in their understanding of DPS clinical research priorities and J&J processes (e.g. clinical trial, database study, investigator-initiated studies, publication grants, compliance requirements). * Support the development and implementation of local clinical research and educational projects. * Provide HCPs with impartial scientific information and published evidence which accurately reflect risk/benefit balance and support the appropriate use of DPS products and services. Internal collaborations * In alignment with senior leadership, implement DPS medical strategy through local field tactics and ensure successful execution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. * Support local teams with literature review, evidence-based presentations and peer-to-peer discussions supporting the value of DPS solutions to HCPs and HCOs. Provide medical support to local market development activities, new product / new indication launches, competitor defense, and appropriate utilization of J&J products. * Support local teams in the management of individual HCP issues, e.g. helping them understand clinical research constraints, J&J processes and compliance requirements. * Bring to J&J key insights from HCPs and external research environment, to help optimize medical & research strategy, to bring optimal medical support to J&J solutions, to enable J&J to identify and partner with key HCPs and institutions at the cutting edge of orthopedics, with the motivation and ability to assist J&J achieve its clinical research goals. * Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure medical-based business strategies and evidence generation plans: Global & EMEA clinical and medical teams, French professional education team, marketing, health economics & market access, compliance, regulatory, legal, finance, BU leaderships, General Management. * Ensure thorough medical reviewing and impartial validation of documentation and promotional material related to DPS solutions for internal and external diffusion. * Support Professional Education teams to identify key HCPs/HCOs and to implement higher-value educational and professional training partnerships. * Support EMEA Medical Safety & Quality teams to respond appropriately to unsolicited requests for information from HCPs and with safety investigations in French. Assist Medical Safety & Quality team by reaching out to HCPs when additional information is needed. * Develop and strengthen scientific knowledge and evidence-based competencies of J&J associates. * Ensure that all activities and interactions comply with upmost ethical standards, scientific integrity, national and international laws and regulations, J&J guidelines and policies. Medical and scientific knowledge development * Continuous update on latest scientific and clinical advances in orthopedics and related topics, through scientific watch and analysis of published literature, attendance at congresses and scientific events, exchanges with KOLs and patients, internal and external stakeholders, analysis of competition landscape. * Hence identify evolving trends in patient pathway, therapeutic strategy, unmet needs and clinical studies in DPS therapeutic areas. * Attendance at courses and industry meetings to remain up to date with developments within orthopedics and medical devices industry. Requirements (knowledge, education, skills): * Educational background: Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical or Nature Science University degree. * M.D. with orthopedics surgery background preferred. * Experience in therapeutic area ≥3 years. * Experience in Pharmaceutical or MedTech Industry preferred. * Strong analytical skills. * Scientific literature analysis & interpretation skills. Interpretation of scientific data, publications and clinical reports, ability to translate this information to meet educational and research needs. * Project management skills. * Experience in clinical study design and/or medical writing preferred. * Excellent communication and influencing skills (French and English). * Seeks innovation. * Confident personality which can engage HCPs in a peer-to-peer format. * High level of ethical standards in business. * Strong HCP focus and solution oriented. * Pro-active and goal-oriented thinking. * Location and mobility: 70% office-based (part home-office possible), up to 30% travels.
