JOB PURPOSE: The CAPEX Controller assumes responsibility for controlling the complete capital expenses process within the region McCain Continental Europe by providing detailed planning, scheduling, and financial controlling for projects to ensure the region’s project portfolio is executed according to schedule, budget, and with the correct number of resources. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, industrial savvy and hands-on involvement in the business. WHERE YOU’LL WORK: France (Villeneuve d’Ascq or Harnes) or The Netherlands (Lewedorp) Reports to: Finance Director Strategic Projects & SCA RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Projects Initiation The incumbent will manage the whole CAPEX approval and follow up process Review of the CAPEX approval forms, including sound analysis of underlying assumptions, NPV and payback calculation, and cash flow analysis Development of project timelines with project managers and engineers Preparing the CAPEX committee for the Region together with the Engineering department Projects Execution Tracks project spend against budget and works with project managers to provide accurate cash-flow projections Participate to the monthly project review with the department and plant manager. Reviewing with each department manager the proposed budget ensuring that all expenditure lines are adequately supported and justified Monthly follow up of CAPEX expenses and identification of corrective actions together with the engineering department Closing Process The CAPEX Controller will ensure the ownership of the closing process for the following areas Managing month end actuals for Capex Together with the accounting department, the incumbent will certify consistency of main accounting entries and anticipate major changes that could materially affect the forecast exercise Management of accounting entries ensuring full compliance with the group policies in regards with assets useful lifetime and depreciation Tracks capitalizable items to ensure these are charged and appropriately allocated to the correct projects Reporting Process Preparing the capex budget with the support of the engineering organization and in accordance with the long-term investment plan and the financial target Preparing the divers support of reporting to senior leadership team and/or finance team Preparing the depreciation budget Processes As key user of numerous transversal processes, the incumbent will play an instrumental role in the optimization, development and documentation Maintain fixed assets from a finance standpoint, from asset acquisition to disposal Investment Strategy Supports the leadership team with the design and implementation of the (long term) investment strategy Involved in various adhoc tasks, including cross-functional and strategic projects Business case preparation and coordination Risk Management Is the finance point of contact for (global) insurance matters: Updates the property values (fixed assets, inventories and business interruption) on an annual basis Coordinates the periodic plant appraisals (every 5 year) Supports in case of insurance claims, e.g. provides total cost estimate Compliance Ensure full compliance of global policies Actively support internal and external auditors in their duty Coordinate regular physical verification of physical assets WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Bachelor or Master degree in finance. Around three years’ experience in a similar role with an international company, preferably within the FMCG/Retail business. Quantitative and analytical advanced skills. Committed to respect deadlines. Problem-solving skills and solutions oriented. Solid business partner. Strong team player, highly motivated who can effectively interface with and present results to all levels of management. Ideally, must have expert excel skills for financial modelling. Solid fundamental accounting knowledge. Experience with enterprise-wide financial planning software systems, such as OneStream and SAP, as well as MicroSoft tools (fe. Power BI) Result and process orientated. Strong communication skills. Fluency in English.
